Zelenskyy meets with Portuguese Prime Minister

At a meeting with Prime Minister of the Portuguese Republic Antonio Costa, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted the country's readiness to participate in the training of Ukrainian pilots.

This was reported by the Office of the President, Ukrinform reports.

"As part of his participation in the summit of the European Political Community, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Portugal Antonio Costa. The Head of State thanked António Costa for the comprehensive and consistent military, political and humanitarian support of Ukraine by the Portuguese government," the statement said.

In particular, the President noted Portugal's readiness to participate in the training of Ukrainian pilots.

Zelenskyy also informed Costa about the situation on the frontline and the consequences of recent massive missile strikes by Russia.

The parties discussed the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius. The President emphasized that the strongest possible and most concrete decisions of the Alliance are important for strengthening Europe's security and bringing the end of the war closer.

The Head of State expressed hope that Portugal, along with other partners, would support the coordination of a clear algorithm for Ukraine's movement towards NATO membership.

The interlocutors also discussed Ukraine's progress on the path to European integration. They also exchanged views on further steps to implement the Ukrainian formula for peace and involve Portugal in this process, particularly in the context of the preparation of the Global Peace Summit.
