U.S. President Joe Biden's decision to run for office may be influenced by his family and inner circle. In particular, his wife and US First Lady, Jill Biden.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Axios publication.

"The only way Biden will step aside, despite his debate failure, is if the same small group of lifelong supporters who helped him run suddenly decide it's time for him to announce his retirement," Axios said in a statement.

According to Axios, this includes Jill Biden, the younger sister of President Valerie Biden, as well as Ted Kaufman, a longtime friend and regular adviser to Biden. The president's decisions are also influenced by a small group of White House advisers.

"This 'kitchen cabinet' that has existed for decades acts like a big family and a council of elders. Only these allies have influence over big and small decisions in Biden's life and presidency," Axios explains.

At the moment, according to Axios, Biden's entourage believes that if he continues to run for president, he has a better chance of winning than Vice President Kamala Harris, who some voices in the United States are proposing to nominate instead of Biden.

"These allies secretly believe that Harris will have a hard time winning over moderate voters who are wavering, and this will boost Donald Trump's chances," Axios notes.
