Democrats start discussing Biden's replacement after Trump debate

Representatives and supporters of the Democratic Party are discussing replacing their candidate, US President Joe Biden, on the ballot because of what they consider to be his poor performance in the debate with Republican candidate Donald Trump.

One of the party's advisers told the publication that "at least half a dozen key donors have sent him messages about the 'disaster' and that Democrats "need to do something," but admitted that "little is possible unless" Biden steps aside.

One of the party's largest donors and a Biden supporter said it was time for the president to end his campaign.

He called Biden's performance "the worst in history" and noted that it was so "bad that no one will pay attention to Trump's lies."

"Biden should step down. No doubt about it," the donor said in a text message, suggesting an alternative slate led by the governors of Maryland and Michigan.
