Israel responds to Iran's warning over a possible operation in Lebanon

Jun 29, 2024

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz responded to Iran's warning that a "war of annihilation" could begin in Lebanon in the event of an IDF military operation against the Hezbollah group. The Israeli official made it clear that Tel Aviv will not be deterred by Tehran's threats.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Twitter (X) Katz.

The minister regarded the recent statement by the Iranian mission to the UN warning of a scenario of "full involvement of all resistance fronts" as a reaction to Israel's alleged preparations for an offensive against Lebanon as a direct threat.

"Today, Iran is threatening to destroy Israel if Israel fully responds to Hezbollah's attacks from Lebanon," the Israeli Foreign Minister said in a statement.

Katz gave Iran a "clear response" to this, in which, in particular, he noted that Iran's declaration of a "war of annihilation" makes it worthy of destruction.

The Israeli Foreign Minister also emphasized that if Hezbollah does not cease fire and withdraw from southern Lebanon, Israel "will act against it with all its might until security is restored and residents can return to their homes."

"A regime that threatens destruction deserves to be destroyed," Katz wrote online.
