EU: Rebuilding the energy sector is an urgent need for Ukraine

Leaders of the EU member states emphasize the need to urgently strengthen support for Ukraine's energy sector from the European Union and its member states.

This is stated in the final decision of the EU summit, the first day of which was held the day before in Brussels, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.

In particular, EU leaders call for continued humanitarian and civil protection assistance in view of the deteriorating humanitarian situation, especially in the frontline regions of Ukraine.

The European Union remains committed to supporting Ukraine's repair, recovery and reconstruction, including mine action, in coordination with international partners, the conclusions say.

"The European Council calls on the European Union and its Member States, in coordination with partners, to urgently step up support for Ukraine's energy sector by the European Union and its Member States," the document says.

The European Council proposes that the European Commission, the High Representative and the Council of the EU accelerate preparations to support Ukraine in the winter.
