Russian MoD pressures Putin to announce new wave of mobilization

Russian Defense Ministry officials are demanding that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announce a new wave of mobilization. Moscow is increasingly talking about the inevitability of mobilization in Russia.

It is noted that a few months before the “inauguration”, Putin met with representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense. They insisted on a new wave of mobilization in order to attract additional forces and compensate for the losses of the Russian army in Ukraine.

The officials persuaded the dictator to use his “inauguration” and “growing political support” to explain the new mobilization. But Putin rejected this because, according to the WSJ, he remembered the discontent of Russians after the mobilization in the fall of 2022.

The source said that Putin wants to use only those who voluntarily sign military contracts in the war against Ukraine. In addition, the authors emphasize that more than a month has passed since the Ukrainian Armed Forces' offensive in the Kursk region, and Russia has not yet organized a major counterattack.

According to the WSJ, more and more people are talking about the inevitability of mobilization in Russia. Moscow also fears that the mobilization will upset the delicate balance in the public perception of the war and could have dangerous political consequences for Putin.
