A group of Wagner forces staying in Belarus may push migrants to move to the Polish border and cause a crisis.
This was stated by Deputy Minister of the Interior Maciej Wąsik, PAP reports.
After reports that Wagner fighters will be deployed to Belarus, Poland expects that Lukashenko's regime may use Prigozhin's mercenaries for provocations on the Polish border.
"These bloody mercenaries, often criminals, can perform any task. They can walk around in Lukashenko's entourage, fulfill his tasks. They can also push migrants to the Polish border," Wąsik said.
Regarding Poland's response to the movement of Wagner troops to Belarus, Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski said that due to the tense situation, Poland will send 500 more law enforcement officers to its border with Belarus. He noted that they will join the 5,000 border guards and 2,000 soldiers already there.
Polish President Andrzej Duda said that the purpose of the Wagner’s movement to Belarus is currently unknown, but that strengthening the border is a normal response to possible threats.
So, Poland has decided to strengthen the border with Belarus due to the movement of mercenaries of the Wagner PMC to the country.
