US President-elect Donald Trump is planning to attend the reopening of the famous Notre Dame de Paris (Notre Dame de Paris) after a fire 5 years ago. The visit to the French capital will be his first foreign trip after winning the election.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the American newspaper The New York Times.
The opening of the reconstructed Notre Dame Cathedral is scheduled for Saturday, December 7.
Trump said on his online platform Truth Social that it would be an “honor” for him to visit this “magnificent and historic” building.
He also praised French President Emmanuel Macron for “doing a great job ensuring that Notre Dame has been restored to its full level of glory and beyond.”
“This will be a special day for everyone!” - Trump added.
According to people briefed on the planning of the trip, the issue was discussed by Trump's team and Macron's office for several days.
Also, one of the US media sources said that the leaders had at least one phone conversation.
Current US President Joe Biden is not expected to attend the opening of Notre Dame de Paris. However, First Lady Jill Biden is expected to attend the event, one “informed person” told the Western press.
