A Ukrainian delegation headed by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is preparing to visit South Korea to discuss the possibility of providing military assistance. The visit may take place on Wednesday.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the South China Morning Post.
According to the newspaper's sources, Kyiv plans to submit a list of requests, including anti-aircraft missiles and artillery systems.
South Korea, which previously limited its support for Ukraine to non-lethal means, may reconsider its position.
President Yun Suk-yel recently stated that Seoul is ready to consider arms supplies to Ukraine depending on the development of military cooperation between Russia and North Korea. However, observers believe that Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election may affect the cautiousness of the South Korean authorities.
Experts emphasize that Seoul's decision will depend on internal and external factors, including Moscow's pressure and the resistance of the South Korean opposition. Some parliamentarians have already threatened to impeach the defense minister if South Korea agrees to supply arms.
Moscow, in turn, warns Seoul against such steps, saying that it would lead to the destruction of bilateral relations. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said that Seoul should avoid actions that could undermine long-term national interests.
