According to the report, the company Ceetrus, which is part of the structure of the French chain Auchan, has completed a deal to sell its assets in Russia.

The assets - more than 40 shopping centers - were received by the company “Trade Galleries”. Its main owner is 23-year-old Tagir Shaimardanov from Kazan.

It is noted that, after the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the French chain Auchan remained in Russia.

In February last year, The Insider and Le Monde wrote that employees of the hypermarket chain in St. Petersburg under humanitarian aid collected goods for the Russian army.

DW adds that in December 2023, it became known that the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia saw the risks of withdrawal from Russia retail chains "Auchan". The retailer, specializing in the sale of groceries, building materials, and clothing, has been operating in Russia since 2002.
