The situation with unrecognized Transnistria will not prevent Moldova from joining the European Union.
This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell upon arrival at the summit in the Moldovan village of Bulboaca, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.
"Moldova's movement towards the EU does not depend on the events in Transnistria," he said.
Borrell reminded that Cyprus was able to join the EU despite having territorial problems (the island is divided into the Republic of Cyprus and the unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus).
"Moldova can do it too," the EU chief diplomat said.
But for this, he added, Moldova must continue to implement reforms.
