Spain will provide a concessional loan to Ukraine for 50 million euros

Spain will provide Ukraine with a soft loan of 50 million euros and an additional grant of one million euros in partnership with the International Finance Corporation to support the private sector.

According to Yevropeiska Pravda, this was announced at a press conference in Kyiv by Spanish Minister of Economy, Trade and Entrepreneurship Carlos Cuerpo, Ukrinform reports.

He noted that he came to Kyiv together with representatives of 23 Spanish companies, which, according to him, shows a high degree of interest of its investors to contribute to the modernization of Ukraine.

"The active participation of the private sector is one of the key points for the successful recovery and transformation of Ukraine, and it is the leadership and experience of our companies that can contribute to Ukraine's development in strategic areas such as transportation, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, cybersecurity, etc.", Cuerpo said.

The official assured that Spanish entrepreneurs are looking forward to a fruitful meeting with Ukrainian business circles to explore opportunities and projects where they can cooperate together.

"We have already held the 4th meeting of the Commission on Intergovernmental Economic and Industrial Cooperation to strengthen our economic ties and find opportunities for cooperation to help Ukraine resist this war and recover from the aggression," the minister added.

Cuerpo informed that Madrid has provided more than €45 million in humanitarian aid, made contributions to various multilateral reconstruction funds, and its military assistance to Kyiv has reached €230 million, while the security agreement between the countries is worth €1 billion.

He also said that Spain had accepted about 330,000 Ukrainian refugees, who "have integrated very well into the country's economy."

"I would like to reaffirm the unwavering commitment of the Spanish government to the courageous Ukrainian people and its willingness to help achieve future prosperity for all Ukrainian citizens," Cuerpo emphasized.
