Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has congratulated Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte on his decision to be appointed Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance.

He wrote about this on Twitter.

Kuleba noted that against the backdrop of threats to the security of the Euro-Atlantic community, "we all need a strong, united and determined NATO, acting as a single family of free nations."

"It is also in our common interest that Ukraine continues to receive strong and long-term support in its fight for freedom and on its path to joining the Alliance," he added.

According to the Foreign Minister, the current NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg "has played and continues to play a crucial role in ensuring both outcomes."

"We are confident that after Mark Rutte takes up his post in October, he will continue to advance common Euro-Atlantic goals and achieve many significant successes. I congratulate Mr. Rutte on the decision of the Allies to appoint him as the next Secretary General and wish him success in this position," Kuleba concluded.
