Those who have watched Russia Today believe in Putin's "peace proposals"

The path to peace in Ukraine will be difficult and long, but Putin will not achieve his goals in Ukraine.

This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a government statement on the European Council and the NATO summit in the Bundestag on June 26, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Putin must recognize that he will not achieve his goal of defeating Ukraine on the battlefield," the head of the German government emphasized.

Scholz commented on the Russian leader's recent "peace proposals," in which he, in particular, demands that Ukraine give up its territories, carry out "demilitarization" and thus make it impossible to defend itself against future aggressions.

"Anyone who believes that this .... will bring sustainable peace to Europe must have watched a lot of Russia Today," the politician said.

He emphasized: Russia does not want peace, but Ukraine, which was attacked, wants peace, a just peace, without fear of new aggression, so there is a Peace Plan for Ukraine, a Peace Summit in Switzerland.

"We have to take the first step... The path will be long and difficult. But holding such a conference was the right thing to do," the Chancellor said.
