Norway simplifies employment of Ukrainians as bus drivers

Jun 26, 2024

Starting July 1, it will be easier for refugees from Ukraine who have driving skills and experience to find jobs as bus drivers in Norway.

This was reported by NTB.

The Norwegian government has initiated amendments to the Law on Professional Transport, which allows displaced persons from Ukraine to obtain a bus driver's license if they provide a certificate from the police of their country.

The mandatory requirement of four years of residence in Norway, which was no longer applicable to EU citizens, was also abolished for Ukrainians.

"These regulatory changes will help more Ukrainians find jobs, and this is something we depend on in the future when we know that many employers are looking for skilled workers," says Tonje Brenna, Minister of Labor and Social Inclusion of Norway.

The Norwegian government initiated the easing of the employment rules for Ukrainian drivers last year due to the shortage of workers.
