Latvia to allocate around EUR 10 million to strengthen border

The Ministry of Defence of Latvia plans to allocate up to €10 million from contingency funds to ensure the implementation of a plan to strengthen the borders with Russia and Belarus.

This is reported by Delfi with reference to the draft order.

Additional funding is provided for the implementation of security measures this year, the Ministry of Defence explained.

In early March, the Latvian government approved a plan for military strengthening and counter-mobility measures on the border with Russia and Belarus

Over the next five years, the defense industry will invest €303 million in strengthening the border. The work covered by this funding began in March.

This year, €25 million has been earmarked for the implementation of the measures envisaged in the plan.
