Lithuanian armed forces do not see a threat of war today

Responding to the heightened anxiety in society, the Lithuanian Armed Forces have assured that there is no threat of war in the country today.

This is stated in a statement by the Lithuanian Armed Forces on Facebook.

"The answer to the question "Will there be a war in Lithuania today/tomorrow/after tomorrow?" is quite short: today there is no military equipment concentrated on the borders of Lithuania with hostile states, and therefore... no intention to use it, so there will be no war either today or tomorrow," the post explains.

According to the armed forces, two criteria must be met for an attack on Lithuania: the concentration of forces on the border and the known or alleged intention of the enemy to use them.

"We consider it necessary to write this because our mailbox has been receiving letters with questions from citizens one after another, family members and friends have been asking the military (about this) for some time, and there have been cases when a soldier in uniform was asked in a store or at a gas station: "When will there be a war and what should I do?" the post reads.
