French President Emmanuel Macron, during a visit to the construction site of the new Eurenco gunpowder plant in Bergerac, defended his desire to re-industrialise France in the military sphere on Thursday, 11 April.

This was reported by BFMTV.

Macron defended his policy aimed at increasing production in the defense sector on French territory.

"The world is changing, and we all have to produce more to support Ukraine in the face of this aggression and to defend ourselves," he told reporters gathered during his trip to the site of the new Eurenco powder plant.

"This dynamic is being launched across Europe and around the world," he added.

The President clarified that France has already tripled the production of Caesar's air defense systems, which it supplies to Ukraine. And in general, it sells these systems all over the world," making them "an extremely powerful export product.

Regarding the production of ammunition, he assured that Eurenco has already doubled its production of charges since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. "We want to go even further," he said.

The new plant in Bergerac, which will be added to the existing production site in Sweden, should allow for a "further increase" in production.
