New EU sanctions package will target Russia's “shadow fleet”

Nov 15, 2024

The European Union plans to impose sanctions against Russia's “shadow fleet”. Such restrictions will be included in the next package of sanctions.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Bloomberg.

Information about the EU's plans to “attack” Russia's “shadow fleet”, through which it exports its oil, was disclosed to the publication by unnamed sources.

According to them, the next package will also include sanctions against individuals involved in the trade. Discussions on the restrictions included in the new package are ongoing.

The EU plans to adopt new sanctions by the end of this year.

It is worth noting that Russia has assembled a “shadow fleet” for oil exports after the G7 imposed a price ceiling on Russian oil of $60 per barrel.
