Norway will sell 32 F-16 fighter jets to Romania after the deal was approved by the United States.
This was reported by Yevropeiska Pravda with reference to the press service of the Norwegian Ministry of Defense.
"We are currently implementing an agreement signed last November to sell Norwegian F-16 fighters to the Romanian Armed Forces. This will be an important contribution to strengthening the air defense of a NATO member country... The sale has been approved by both Norwegian and American authorities," said Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gramm.
All aircraft must undergo maintenance before being sent to Romania. Therefore, the Norwegian Ministry of Defense has extended the agreement with Kongsberg Aviation Maintenance Services (KAMS) for the maintenance of F-16 fighters for sale to Romania.
The agreement provides for the preparation of a total of 32 fighters.
