Ukraine's allies will provide the Ukrainian army with everything it needs at a high rate during the counteroffensive. This was stated today by U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin before the 13th meeting of the Ramstein Contact Group on Ukraine's defense in Brussels.

According to him, a "military marathon" has begun on the territory of Ukraine.

"That is why today we will consider the most urgent needs put forward by Ukraine. We will also focus on the long-term perspective and on a lasting peace for Ukraine, which lives next to such a neighbor," Austin said.

He noted that the contact group will focus on ensuring that Ukraine can protect its population and critical infrastructure with air defense systems.

"And thanks to these systems, Ukraine is able to withstand drone attacks and missile strikes. We are talking about Patriot and NASAMS systems that save Ukrainian lives. And today we will dig even deeper to ensure that Ukraine receives new shells and ammunition for air defense systems," the Pentagon chief assured.

Austin promised that the allies will adapt to changing circumstances on the battlefield and in accordance with the pace at which Ukraine's needs change.

In recent days, the United States, Britain, France, and Belgium have announced new shipments of weapons and ammunition for Ukraine.

Earlier, the members of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine in the Ramstein format provided the Ukrainian army with more than 230 tanks and 1,550 armored vehicles. This was stated by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at a press conference following the meeting on April 21.

According to him, the allies now want to focus on the key capabilities that Ukraine needs right now and in the medium term. The priority military assistance is air defense systems.

"What Ukraine needs most right now is air defense systems to protect itself from Russian massive missile attacks," Austin said, adding that the meeting participants supported the provision of missiles for Ukraine's air defense.
