Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has denied reports of his country's intention to give Ukraine its F-16 fighter jets.

He said this in an interview with Rzeczpospolita.

Commenting on Greece's support for Ukraine in a full-scale war with Russia, Mitsotakis said "We are not ready to give Ukraine F-16s".

"This information appeared in the media, but it is not true. However, I would like to emphasize that we have supported and continue to support Ukraine. We made this decision at the very beginning of the invasion," he added.

The Greek prime minister reminded that Athens has "historically strong ties with Russia, cultural and religious", but "strongly opposes the Kremlin regime".

Mitsotakis refused to specify the details of military assistance to Kyiv, but stressed that Greece had provided "a significant number of 155mm shells" and was "constantly looking for ways to further strengthen our military support."
