Scholz: Israel should not respond to Iran with a massive attack

Apr 17, 2024

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has called on Israel to refrain from a massive response to the Iranian air attack.

He said this before the EU summit in Brussels, Tagesschau reports.

"It is important for us that this moment is used to further de-escalate in order to strengthen our own position," the chancellor said.

Scholz stressed that Israel should not "respond with a massive attack".

In addition, in his opinion, new EU sanctions against Iran should be considered. However, they must first be legally justified.

After the repulsion of the Iranian attack on Israel, thanks to the forces of the United States, France, and Britain, the West began to call on Israel not to further inflame the conflict.
