Scholz offers advice to Israel after Iranian attack

Apr 15, 2024

After Iran's open attack on Israel with missiles and drones last weekend, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz advised Israel to promote de-escalation in the region.

The German chancellor, who is currently in Shanghai, was quoted by Spiegel.

Scholz called the successful defense against about 300 Iranian drones and missiles a success that "should not be lost". "Hence, our advice is to make our own contribution and contribute to de-escalation," the German PM said.

He also addressed Iran, noting that its first open attack on Israeli territory was a "bad escalation" that should not have happened.

"Iran cannot continue to behave in this way," the German Chancellor said.

After the repulsion of the Iranian attack on Israel, thanks to the forces of the United States, France, and Britain, the West began to call on Israel not to further inflame the conflict.
