Slovakia to participate in the Peace Summit in Switzerland - Fico

Apr 11, 2024

Slovakia will take part in the inaugural Peace Summit in Switzerland.

This was stated by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico at a press conference with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in Bratislava, Yevropeiska Pravda reports.

"We talked about the preparation of a large peace summit in Switzerland on 15-16 June, and we will participate," Fico said.

Prior to the consultations, Shmyhal said he had invited Slovakia to participate in the summit.

"We want peace more than anyone else on this planet. We are grateful for the support of the Ukrainian 'peace formula' in Slovakia, by the government and the prime minister of Slovakia. We, of course, look forward to the Global Peace Summit and invite Slovakia to participate and support the end of the war as soon as possible," Ukrinform quoted the Ukrainian prime minister as saying.

He stressed that this would bring sustainable and lasting peace to the European continent and to Ukraine, "which is waiting for it, waiting, fighting for it and will fight for it as long as it takes."
