Apr 12, 2024

The Swedish government said on Thursday that it will invest 385 million kronor ($36 million) to strengthen its bomb shelters, emergency services, and civil defense after warning the country to prepare for war.

This is reported by AFP.

Minister of Civil Defence Carl-Oscar Bolin said that Sweden would use the funds to strengthen the ability of rescue services to function during the conflict, strengthen cybersecurity, and help the healthcare system to stockpile medicines.

The money will also be used to rebuild bomb shelters, drinking water sources, and transport infrastructure.

"Security has been deteriorating for a long time," Bolin told reporters.

He caused a stir in January when he told a defense conference that "there could be a war in Sweden".
