The Prime Minister of Ireland, Simon Harris, said that his country definitely supports the idea of using funds from frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine, and a substantive conversation about this will be one of the main topics of the meeting in Brussels.

As reported by Ukrinform, he said this before the start of a special meeting of the European Council.

"Using Russian assets is a potential way for the European Union to help Ukraine, and Ireland would certainly support that idea," Harris said.

"I would like to tell President Zelensky the same thing I told him during the phone conversation last week: Ireland remains firmly with Ukraine, and the European Union is doing the same. And that's why I think there needs to be a very important conversation about how we can use the funds from frozen Russian assets to help the Ukrainian government at this time," the Irish Prime Minister detailed.

According to him, all participants are aware that Europe should play a leading role in supporting Ukraine.

You forgot that we need funds, including weapons, now. And not for the following restoration. There will be no restoration of Ukraine if you allow Russia to win.
