After the informal summit of the European Council, the head of the Polish government also expressed the opinion that the coming weeks could decide the fate of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Speaking about the airstrikes of the Russian invaders on Ukraine, he noted that the conclusions of the summit contain a provision that obliges the EU to take measures to ensure the security of Ukrainian skies.

Tusk also added that among the topics discussed during the summit, security issues were particularly important from the Polish point of view. The official said that the leaders of the member states also joined forces with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"President Zelenskyy emphasized the immediate, perhaps crucial, need to provide Ukraine with systems that could combat Russian missiles and drones," Tusk said.

The Polish Prime Minister added that Germany has provided Ukraine with another set of Patriot batteries and also called on other countries that have such capabilities to join this initiative.

At the same time, Tusk noted that Berlin's appeal does not apply to Poland, since Warsaw does not have enough Patriots to share with Kyiv.

Nobody expects this from Poland, as a "front-line state", he assured, adding that "everyone understands that we must protect our own skies, including in connection with incidents with Russian missiles."
