There is progress in the Svatove direction

Ukrainian defenders counterattacked the Russian occupiers in the Svatove direction and advanced 400 meters. This was reported by the Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi.

The commander visited Ukrainian defenders on the frontline and noted that the Armed Forces are not only defending themselves but also counterattacking. According to Syrsky, the occupiers have reinforced their grouping with Storm Z assault units consisting of prisoners. The Russians have launched an offensive in the areas of Maksyutivka, Novoselivske, Kuzemivka, Makiivka, Bilohorivka, and Spirne. They are trying to "push through the defense" of Ukrainian troops.

Syrsky noted the successful work of Ukrainian defenders who managed to push back the enemy and advance in various areas amid the assaults. "I would like to note the work of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade unit, which not only repelled the enemy's attack in the Svatove direction but also successfully counterattacked and advanced 400 meters on its shoulders," the general said.

Syrsky also said that the soldiers of the 80th separate air assault brigade liberated a large area of territory in the area of the Ivanivsky forest by tactical actions. It is likely to be a forest strip in the Bakhmut direction.

Earlier, Oleksandr Syrsky said that Ukrainian defenders are trying to encircle Bakhmut.
