Ukraine got back 106 defenders from captivity - 8 officers and 98 soldiers and sergeants. All of them fought in the Bakhmut sector. Among those released from captivity are many soldiers who were considered missing.
The body of an American volunteer was also transferred as part of the exchange.
The editorial board learned that this is US Army veteran Nicholas Maymer, call sign "Sima." He served in the 135th Separate Battalion of the 114th TRO Brigade, where he volunteered from the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
The commander of the 135th separate battalion, Colonel Ihor Shepetin, expressed his gratitude to Brigadier General, Deputy Head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Dmytro Usov, who personally facilitated this exchange.
