Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karinsh said that Ukraine will become a NATO member as soon as the Russian-Ukrainian war is over.
According to Yevropeiska Pravda, he said this while addressing journalists at the European Union summit.
According to him, although other possible security guarantees are "interesting," what Ukraine and the rest of Europe need is Ukraine's full membership in the Alliance. "The best security guarantee for Ukraine is full membership in NATO as soon as the war is over," Karinsh emphasized.
The Latvian Prime Minister emphasized that this is the only way to guarantee peace in the future.
He also noted that Ukraine is now a "de facto member of the Alliance," and after its integration into NATO, it will be the most experienced and professional in terms of military strength, so it will eventually teach other member states better tactics.
