This was announced on May 29 by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

According to Zheleznyak, 328 MPs voted in favor of the proposal.

On May 28, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked the parliament to approve a draft resolution on sanctions.

The draft resolution proposed a comprehensive ban on all trade with Iran, including investment and technology transfer. It also sought to stop the transit of Iranian products through Ukrainian territory and prohibit the withdrawal of Iranian assets located in Ukraine.

Iran supplied Russia with kamikaze drones, which were used to carry out massive attacks on Ukraine's infrastructure, resulting in significant financial losses and civilian deaths.

At the end of March, the United States announced additional sanctions against four companies and three individuals from Iran and Turkey for their role in Iran's drone and weapons development programs.

In December 2022, the EU also announced sanctions against Iran and four organizations "for their role in the development and supply of drones used by Russia in its war against Ukraine."
