Currently, Russia most often uses Tu-95 strategic bombers for massive shelling of Ukraine. Other types of aircraft are being protected by the enemy.

This was announced by the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov during a telethon.

He emphasized that the Russians are now only maintaining the technical condition of the bombers so that they can take off and fire missiles.

"As for the Tu-95, everyone can see that their entire activity is a flight from one airfield to another, loading with missiles, then take off, launching missiles and leaving," Budanov explained.

The chief Ukrainian intelligence officer emphasized that the Russians have not deployed Tu-160 aircraft on combat missions for a long time, as they are maximizing their resource. At the same time, he said, the enemy uses Tu-22 aircraft to launch X-22 missiles no more than once a week because it has big problems.

"In their documents, especially on the Tu-22, they explicitly state that they need to finish their life and forget about this type of aircraft," Budanov said.

He also noted that the occupiers launch missiles at Ukraine only from Tu-95s, and do not use Tu-160s because they maximize their service life.
