According to Erdogan, he also hopes to talk to Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin. He intends to "discuss ways of dialogue and further steps towards peace".

At the same time, according to Erdogan, Putin's position on this issue is not enough, so he will raise this topic in a conversation with Zelensky.

"All this will allow us to understand whether Turkey's mediation efforts can bring peace closer? And now, it is important for us to maintain the effectiveness of the "grain corridor", Erdogan said.

In fact, the main requirement of Ukraine to start negotiations is known - the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine. This applies to both Donbas and Crimea. Will Putin agree to this? It seems that today he is not ready for such a decision. Therefore, all talks about negotiations are more just political noise.

Recently, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said that Ukraine should have the freedom to decide on the ceasefire negotiations.

"We cannot make decisions instead of Ukraine. Ukraine must say when it wants such negotiations and considers them promising," Steinmeier said.

Yesterday, the same opinion was voiced by Chancellor Scholz. He added that Russia must realize that the idea of dictatorial peace will not lead to anything and that it is impossible to simply walk with a felt-tip pen over the territory and say that it is now mine.
