The artillery fleet of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be replenished with Swedish Archer self-propelled guns. The Ukrainian military is completing training.
This is reported with reference to the Telegram of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said at a joint briefing with Swedish Civil Defense Minister Carl-Oscar Bohlin and his Swedish counterpart Pål Jonson that the Archer self-propelled guns, together with trained crews of Ukrainian artillerymen, will arrive during the summer of 2023.
In addition, Ukrainian soldiers are completing training on advanced CV 90 armored vehicles.
"Different types of training missions are functioning, in which our servicemen are learning thanks to Swedish instructors," the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said in the statement.
Swedish Archer artillery systems are considered one of the best in the world, and they are also called “sniper rifles” in the world of artillery systems. This is a self-propelled 155-mm artillery system with an 8-meter gun barrel produced by the Swedish company Bofors.
A distinctive feature of the system is a full automatic loading process and, as a consequence, increased rate of fire, including MRCI mode, and reduction of the crew to 3-4 people. The Swedish government has decided that it will transfer eight such units to Ukraine.
