The official appointment of the Dutch Prime Minister to the post of NATO Secretary General will take place on Wednesday, June 26.
This was reported to AFP by diplomats from several NATO countries.
According to AFP sources, the permanent representatives of all 32 NATO member states have officially approved the appointment of Rutte as secretary general.
He will take office on October 1, when the mandate of the current NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expires.
