Blinken calls to stop Russia's cooperation with Iran, DPRK and China

The United States believes that two conditions must be met to achieve peace in Ukraine. One of them is the termination of Russia's military cooperation with Iran, North Korea and China.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to a statement by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

He believes that the Western allies are facing the question of how to put an end to Putin's war, as Russia is not going to stop its aggression.

“There are two immediate and interrelated steps we must take. First, we must address Russia's growing cooperation with North Korea and Iran,” Blinken said.

The secretary of state reminded that Iran has been supplying the Kremlin with attack drones since 2022. Tehran helped to build a drone factory in Russia, and just a few weeks ago, it transferred hundreds of short-range ballistic missiles, and Tehran trained the Russian military in Iran to handle these weapons.

Meanwhile, China has delivered trains of weapons and ammunition to Russia, including ballistic missiles, launchers, and millions of artillery shells.

“The support from Tehran and Pyongyang helps Putin to cause slaughter, suffering and destruction to innocent Ukrainian men, women and children, to destroy Ukrainian homes, grain silos and ports, to devastate Ukrainian power plants, heating and gas facilities just as winter is coming,” he said.

Blinken emphasized that the actions of Iran, North Korea and Russia have violated numerous Security Council resolutions - resolutions that Russia voted for. As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, it has a special responsibility for implementation.

“North Korea and Iran are not the only ones aiding and abetting Russia. China, another permanent member of this council, is a major supplier of machine tools, microelectronics, and other goods that Russia uses to rebuild, resupply, build up its war machine, and support its brutal aggression,” the US Secretary of State added.
