Japan is preparing a new energy aid package for Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The latter spoke about a new energy aid package for Ukraine.

Among the topics discussed by the parties was cooperation with partners in the G7 and the EU to create a practical mechanism that will allow them to receive $50 billion from frozen Russian assets.

“Zelenskyy also spoke about the current situation in the energy sector. Fumio Kishida said that Japan is preparing a new energy aid package that will include transformers, generators and other equipment,” the OP said.

It is also noted that the Head of State awarded the Prime Minister of Japan with the Order of Yaroslav the Wise, I degree.

“I am very glad to meet you. And this award is not only from me - from the entire Ukrainian people. We are very grateful for such strong support for Ukraine, for Ukrainians from the very beginning of the full-scale invasion,” Zelensky said.

He also thanked Japan for financial and humanitarian assistance worth more than €12 billion, as well as for supporting sanctions against Russia. The Head of State emphasized that “it is important to continue working to block all the loopholes that Russia uses to circumvent sanctions.”
