Nauseda on the arrival of Rheinmetall: A long-awaited step
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has called the decision of the German company Rheinmetall to build an ammunition plant in Lithuania a long-awaited step in strengthening the country's defense industry.
His statement is cited by LRT.
"Rheinmetall's investment is indeed a very important and long-awaited step towards strengthening our defense industry, as it is also a priority for the European Union," Nauseda said.
According to him, the Rheinmetall plant is being built, among other things, to help Ukraine.
"This is being done to help Ukraine in its liberation struggle, and for our own strength, the productivity of our defense industry, so that we are less dependent on the supply chain in the global market," the Lithuanian president said.
