Defense Ministry comments on Russia's change in shelling tactics

Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar commented on the latest massive Russian attacks in Ukraine. She also explained whether Russia has changed its tactics.

Alexei Reznikov's deputy explained during the telethon that they do not record a change in tactics. It is worth noting that Russia has already attacked Kyiv alone 13 times in May 2023, according to the KIEV, Channel 24 reports.

"The enemy is fighting with different intensity because they simply have different capabilities. In some ways, they are running out of resources, they are replenishing their stocks. Somewhere they see that they cannot fulfill their tasks, for example, they start destroying,

- explained Hanna Malyar.

She clarified that the shelling is a reaction of the Russians to the results they are getting or not getting. Therefore, the threat of rocket attacks throughout Ukraine remains.

Hanna Malyar explained that she would not talk about a change in tactics, but rather about the fact that the Russians do not abandon their main goal - the capture of the entire territory of Ukraine.

"But because they failed to do this from the very beginning, they are now moving in stages. Their first stage, which they set for themselves, is the East of Ukraine, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions. They are now trying to fulfill this stage," the deputy minister said.

Why Russia is attacking the North more

Hanna Malyar explained that over the past month, we have seen an increase in the number of attacks in the north of Ukraine. We are talking about the northern border regions.

The Russians are destroying civilian infrastructure there with greater intensity because they are fighting without rules. But this is most likely part of their operation in eastern Ukraine, where they are trying to reach the borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions,

According to her deputy, Oleksiy Reznikov, in the North, Russia wants to shackle our troops and keep them in constant tension so that we cannot use the units in other areas.

Hanna Malyar assured that everything the Russians are doing is working toward their common goal.
