EU to buy 12 more aircraft to fight forest fires

The European Commission is allocating 600 million euros to purchase 12 more aircraft to fight forest fires, which will be deployed in countries that are most often affected by this natural disaster.

According to Yevropeiska Pravda, this was reported by the EC press service.

The new 12 aircraft, which will be purchased at the expense of the EU budget, will be used to fight fires throughout the European Union. The delivery is due in 2027.

The planes will be deployed in Croatia, Greece, Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal, which are most often affected by forest fires in the hot summer months.

On the same day, Croatia signed an agreement with a Canadian company to purchase a firefighting aircraft; Greece recently signed a similar agreement.
