On 25 March, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced an increase in the number of the Armed Forces unit responsible for countering terrorist threats as part of Operation Sentinelle.

This was reported by BFMTV.

According to Attal, three thousand troops have already been deployed in France as part of Operation Sentinelle, "and another 4,000 are on alert and will be deployed if necessary".

The French prime minister also recalled the "serious threat" of terrorism a few months after the knife attack in Arras. Attal announced that since the beginning of the year, two terrorist attempts have already been foiled in France, and 45 in total since 2017.

Operation Sentinelle was launched in 2015 after several large-scale Islamist terrorist attacks in France. As part of it, the military and gendarmerie guard railway stations, places of worship, schools, and theatres across the country.
