Italy follows France in tightening security measures

Italy has followed France in tightening security measures after the terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall in the Moscow region of Russia, for which an ISIS affiliate claimed responsibility.

In Italy, at a meeting of the National Security Council on Monday, a decision was made to strengthen security measures during Holy Week, which precedes Easter, which will be celebrated next weekend.

According to a statement by the country's Interior Ministry, the authorities will step up both surveillance and inspections, "paying particular attention to the places of greatest concentration and transit of people, as well as sensitive facilities."
