The Ukrainian Defense Forces are to receive F-16 fighter jets from partner countries following previously established plans and schedules. Western aircraft may appear in our skies as early as this summer.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba at a briefing in Warsaw, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

According to the official, initially, there were plans for F-16s to appear in the air of Ukraine in the middle of summer.

"Currently, everything is going according to plan," the minister said.

At the same time, he noted that the issue of transferring these fighters to Ukraine is "very complicated and confusing."

"So you never know how things can change. But this is the current schedule," Kuleba said.

He added that he has information that the training of Ukrainian pilots on these aircraft is going well. At the same time, the Foreign Minister noted the need for more training, in particular for engineers and technicians.

More than a year has passed since the "promise" to hand over F-16 aircraft to Ukraine. And the matter has made no progress whatsoever. A year to train pilots to fly a 40-year-old airplane at the level of a Mig-29 is a bit strange.
