Latvian Foreign Minister Krisjanis Karinš has announced his resignation.
This was reported by Delfi.
On Thursday, Karinš met with Prime Minister Ewika Silina to discuss the situation with the use of private flights for business trips when he headed the previous government.
After the meeting, Karins made a brief statement to the media, saying that he had informed Silinia of his resignation. He said that he would leave office on 10 April, when the Seimas will decide on his removal.
According to unofficial information from the Delfi portal, Karinš's successor may be Seimas member Zanda Kalninia-Lukasevica, who has many years of experience in foreign affairs and previously served as parliamentary secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
