Lithuania appoints new defense minister

On 25 March, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda appointed Laurinas Kasciūnas as the new Minister of National Defence.
This was announced by the Office of the President of Lithuania.
Prior to his appointment as the head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence, Kasciunas served as the head of the Seimas National Security and Defence Committee.
One of the important tasks of the new minister will be, among other things, to prepare Lithuania to receive a German brigade on its territory.
Separately, Nausėda signed a decree dismissing Arvydas Anusasukas, who had earlier resigned from the post of Minister of National Defence.
