Mar 26, 2024

Alexander Lukashenko, who calls himself the president of Belarus, has provided details of his interaction with the Russian side during the detention of the perpetrators of the March 22 terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall near Moscow. Lukashenka, who traveled to the Oshmyany district of Grodno region on March 26, was quoted by the website of the Belarusian president.

According to Lukashenka, the terrorists "could not go to Belarus" through the Bryansk region.

"Because in the first minutes, just as in Russia, part of the region switched to a heightened security regime, so did we. In the first minutes, the head of the KGB (he is in charge of anti-terrorist measures) reported to me. "We put our units into action in the most combat situation," the self-proclaimed president of the republic emphasized, "so they could not enter Belarus. They saw that. So they turned away and went to the Ukrainian-Russian border."

According to Lukashenka, as soon as the special services received information that the car with the terrorists was moving towards Bryansk, an agreement was reached that Belarus would block its section of the border, and the aggressor country, Russia, would block it.

"We didn't sleep for a day together with [President of the aggressor country, Russia] Vladimir Putin! There was constant interaction," Lukashenko summarized.

At the same time, Putin had previously spoken about the attempt of the Crocus City Hall shooters to escape to Ukraine, allegedly "a window was prepared on the Ukrainian side to cross the state border."
