Out of 100 attacks on Ukraine by the Russian occupiers, 97 out of 100 were aimed at civilian infrastructure, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said at an extraordinary meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council on March 28, which was held at Ukraine's request. He wrote about it on Facebook.

"The main focus was on Russia's recent massive air strikes and the need to strengthen Ukraine's air defense. The total explosive power of combined air strikes on Ukraine since the beginning of the year exceeds 9 kilotons. Only 3% of these Russian missiles, drones, and guided bombs hit military targets, while 97% hit civilian infrastructure," Umerov noted.

He reminded that the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights reported that "712 of the 1,804 civilian casualties confirmed by the UN over the past three months were caused by missile and barrage attacks."

The Defense Minister said that he had provided the interlocutors with a detailed overview of the urgent needs of Ukraine's air defense.

"The support of partners is important in this matter. It will save thousands of innocent lives. The more Russian missiles are shot down in the Ukrainian sky, the less threat they will pose to NATO member states bordering Ukraine," explained Umerov.
