On Wednesday, Spanish military aircraft dropped 26 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where Israel is conducting a military operation against the Hamas terrorist group.

According to Yevropeiska Pravda, this was reported by the country's Foreign Ministry.

As part of the operation, which was carried out in coordination with Jordan and also funded by the EU, more than 11,000 food rations were delivered to alleviate the "catastrophic level of food security" faced by up to 1.1 million people in Gaza, the ministry said in a statement.

"Spain insists on the opening of land crossings as a necessary measure to avoid starvation," the Foreign Ministry added.

The ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), despite the fact that several of its employees were suspected of involvement in the Hamas attack on Israel.
