The Muslim holy month began on March 10 and ends on April 9, meaning the council is calling for a two-week ceasefire, although the draft resolution says a pause in fighting should lead to a “permanent ceasefire.”

It is noted that the United States abstained from voting, while 14 other council members, including Russia, China, and the UK, voted in favor.

The resolution also demanded the immediate unconditional release of all hostages.

Before the vote, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to cancel a planned visit to Washington with a delegation unless the United States vetoed the resolution, media reported.

It marked the first time the US supported a resolution containing the word “ceasefire” during the war in the Gaza Strip, reflecting President Joe Biden's administration's strengthening stance towards Israel.

Do UN Security Council resolutions have at least some legislative force?

Usually this is just another expression of concern. If someone violates the resolution, the UN Security Council will speak out even more. concern.

And there is no responsibility for non-compliance.
